In the field of modern art, abstract figure sculptures are widely used in art exhibitions and space decorations because of their simple lines and tense postures. Compared with figurative sculptures, they pay more attention to the relationship between structure, proportion and body shape, and emphasize the expressiveness of the action itself.
The picture shows an abstract figure sculpture customized by Arturban Sculpture for a customer. The customer provided a sketch called “Fashionista”, based on which we made 3D modeling, adjusted the structural proportions, and completed the subsequent production. This Abstract Sculpture Art is customized exclusively for the customer and is only used to display the customization and production process, not for sale.

What Is Abstract Sculpture Art?
Abstract sculpture is an art form that does not aim to restore the real image. It expresses emotions, ideas or spiritual connotations through the combination of lines, shapes, structures and spaces, emphasizing the “language of form” rather than visual reproduction.

What Is the History of Abstract Sculpture?
Abstract sculpture originated from the European modernist art movement in the early 20th century. Although Auguste Rodin’s works are still figurative, he broke through tradition and laid the foundation for abstract art.
- Early Exploration (1900s–1920s): Cubism and Futurism promoted the simplification of form. Brancusi’s “Birds” expresses the concept of “flying” in a streamlined shape and is a representative work of abstract sculpture.
- Structure and Space (1920s–1940s): Constructivist artists such as Gabo use materials such as steel wire and glass to emphasize that space itself is also part of the sculpture.
- Postwar and Public Art (1950s–1970s): After the war, abstract sculpture entered the public space. Moore and Hepworth and others integrated sculpture with the natural environment to create large outdoor works.
- Diversity and Innovation (1980s to Present): Contemporary abstract sculptures integrate elements such as minimalism, kinetic energy, and digital modeling, and the materials are also richer, becoming one of the most dynamic forms in the sculpture world.

What Are the Characteristics of of Abstract Figure Sculpture?
Abstract figure sculptures simplify the human body structure, emphasize posture, proportion and sense of strength, and are not limited to the portrayal of gender, face or clothing. It has the following characteristics:
- • Non-figurative: no detailed depiction of real people
- • Strong emotional expression: expressing psychological or mental state through posture
- • Sense of space: emphasizing the interactive relationship between sculpture and space
- • Wide applicability: suitable for interior decoration, commercial space, public art, etc.

Who are the artists that make abstract sculptures?
Constantin Brancusi: “Bird in Space”

Henry Moore: “Reclining Figure”

Barbara Hepworth: “Oval Form”

David Smith: “Cubi” series

These works have expanded the boundaries of sculpture through simplification, reconstruction and formal exploration.

Project Case: Custom Abstract Sculpture Art “Fashionista”.
Arturban Sculpture accepted a client’s commission and created a female abstract figure sculpture named “Fashionista” based on the hand-drawn sketch provided by the client.
We started with the sketch, made a 3D modeling diagram for it, and modified the proportions and posture through repeated communication, and finally completed an elegant and upright bronze sculpture. The Abstract Sculpture Art is now displayed as our custom model and is not for sale.

Production Process of Bronze Abstract Sculpture Art.
We use the traditional lost wax method to make this sculpture, and the process is as follows:

Appearance Description of This Abstract human Sculpture.
This abstract figure sculpture is based on the slender human body and is made of bronze. The figure stands asymmetrically, with one leg bearing the weight and leaning forward slightly, while the other leg is slightly withdrawn for support. The body naturally leans forward, and the back outlines a soft “S” curve. The arms are in different postures: one arm hangs down naturally in a relaxed posture; the other arm is slightly stretched behind the body, forming a tension echoing the direction of the torso, enhancing the overall dynamic and expressiveness. The head omits the details of the facial features, and only uses a smooth curved surface to shape the outline. The surface of the Abstract Sculpture Art is treated with a red copper chemical coloring process. The bottom is matched with a simple square base.
