Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014), a Polish sculptor, was born in Oderland, Germany in 1944. He studied at the Krakow Academy of Arts. In 1968, he moved to Paris with his family and established a studio near Carrara, Italy. He was deeply influenced by Greek and Roman classical aesthetics, while also combining modern expression techniques. His representative works such as “Eros Bendato” have been exhibited in Krakow, St. Louis and other places, symbolizing the fragility of human nature through broken faces and wrapped bandages. This Bronze Head Sculpture entitled “Centurione I” was created in 1987 and exhibited at the riverside bridge in Bamberg, Germany. It is a typical example of Mitoraj’s combination of classical aesthetics and modern broken beauty.
The Igor Mitoraj statue is an oversized bust of a man’s head, with only the lower jaw, nose bridge and half of the forehead retained. The right side of the face and the back of the head are obviously missing, as if the historical relics have been weathered and eroded and are in a broken state. The overall shape is solemn and quiet, with simple lines. The Bronze Head Sculpture is naturally oxidized and mottled, combining a sense of history with a modern feel. Arturban Statue can customize various replica statues. Welcome to contact us for more details.
