1. Introduction of Zeus of Cape Statue
Zeus is the king of gods in ancient Greek mythology. He controls the sky and thunder and is the leader of the twelve main gods of Olympus. He symbolizes order, justice and supreme divine power, and often serves as an arbitrator between gods and mortals. Zeus’s iconic artifact is thunder, which has the power to call the wind and rain and crush enemies. He is the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. After adulthood, he joined forces with his brothers Poseidon and Hades to overthrow his father’s rule. The three of them ruled the heavens, the sea and the underworld respectively. This sculpture, called Zeus of Cape Statue, is one of the most figurative artistic expressions of Zeus’s power in ancient Greece.
The statue is cast in bronze and perfectly captures the dynamic moment of Zeus before throwing thunder. The god’s arms are powerfully spread out, his right hand is raised high, and his left arm is balanced and stretched, showing a strong sense of tension and control. The body of the Zeus of Cape Statue is slightly twisted, the muscles are tight, the abdominal muscles and chest muscles are clearly defined, and the legs are stable and powerful.
