1. Introduction of Shakyamuni Statue
This is a solemn and dignified seated sculpture of Shakyamuni Buddha, its overall image embodying the tranquility and wisdom symbolized in Buddhist art. The Buddha in the Shakyamuni Statue sits in the lotus position atop a tiered lotus throne, his body upright and serene. His face is round and peaceful, his eyes slightly lowered, his expression compassionate and serene. His head is styled in a typical spiral bun, with a prominent ushnisha (cranial protuberance) at the top, symbolizing the Buddha’s wisdom and enlightenment. The white urna (urnus) between his eyebrows and his long earlobes are common auspicious features in Buddhist iconography, signifying wisdom and compassion.
In the buddha shakyamuni sculpture, the Buddha’s right hand is in the abhaya mudra (gesture of reassurance), palm facing outward; his left hand naturally holds a begging bowl, symbolizing the Buddha’s pure practice and spirit of universal salvation. The swastika symbol on his chest represents auspiciousness and light. The entire Shakyamuni Statue is finished in gold, presenting a warm and dignified metallic texture.
