1.Introduction of puffin sculpture
The five foot tall bronze puffin sculpture is a memorial to a hunted species. This now extinct bronze statue of the great puffin overlooks the impressive sea cliffs where these birds once built their nests. The statue was created by the artist Todd Mcgrain. This is one of several works he did as part of the lost bird project. The series includes sculptures of several extinct birds. The great auk (Pinguinus impennis) is a kind of flightless bird, which became extinct in the mid-19th century. It was the first bird to be called a penguin, although these birds had nothing to do with penguins in the southern hemisphere.
