1. Introduction of African Female Statue
Charles Cordier (1827–1905) was a renowned 19th-century French sculptor, particularly famous for his multicolored busts. He exhibited his work within the French official art system and focused on depicting non-European figures. Unlike traditional sculptures made from a single material, Cordier often combined bronze, marble, onyx, and alabaster, using the inherent colors and textures of different materials to express skin tone, clothing, and social status. This African Female Statue, originally titled Femme des colonies, depicts a bust of an African woman.
The figure’s head is slightly turned to one side, displaying a bright smile. Her finely detailed curls, hair ornaments, long earrings, and armbands are meticulously rendered. The head, neck, and arms are sculpted in dark bronze, while the draped cloth covering the shoulders and chest is rendered in light-colored stone. In the African Female Statue, the cloth spreads out extensively from the shoulders, its folds thick and natural. The stepped, light-colored base below adds to the bust’s erudite feel. | Step 5: Repair, welding & Chasing | We will repair the hole of statue, then welding and chasing, which is the key step to make fine high quality statue. |
| Step 6: Patina and wax surface | We will paint the color as the image the customer sent, then make wax surface. When finished statue, also I will take photos for your reference. After you are satisfied with all, I will arrange packing and shipment. |
