1. Introduction of Abhaya Buddha Statue
Both sculptures feature a seated Buddha. The Buddha’s right hand is raised, palm facing outward, in the abhaya mudra (gesture of reassurance), symbolizing comfort, protection, the elimination of fear, and the granting of inner peace; the left hand rests naturally in front of the abdomen. The figure’s face is serene, eyes slightly lowered, with spiral hair, a ushnisha (cranial protuberance), and long earlobes, embodying the tranquility, wisdom, and compassion commonly found in Buddhist statues. These Abhaya Buddha Statues are suitable for display in gardens, meditation spaces, shrines, or near water features in courtyards.
Both of the Gautama Buddha Sculptures are made of marble, but their styles differ slightly. The first has a beige marble texture, with layered drapery, more defined folds at the shoulders, chest, and legs, and a lotus petal base, giving it a stronger traditional Buddhist sculptural feel. The second is predominantly white with softer lines in the robe and a low, stable posture, suitable for natural gardens and lawns. Both of the Abhaya Buddha Statues use a serene seated posture and the abhaya mudra as their visual core, possessing both religious symbolism and suitability for decorating oriental-style courtyards.
