1. Introduction of Bust of Emperor Hadrian

Hadrian (76–138 AD) was one of the Five Good Emperors of the Roman Empire. He succeeded to the throne in 117 AD, continuing and adjusting the expansionist policies of Trajan’s era, emphasizing the consolidation of the frontiers and administrative integration. He toured the provinces frequently, emphasizing legionary discipline and the construction of a border defense system. One of his most famous projects was Hadrian’s Wall in northern England, used for defense and control of border traffic. This sculpture is a representational bust of Emperor Hadrian, focusing on the transition from head to neck and shoulders, without depicting the breastplate or a complete bust base.

The figure’s head in the Emperor Hadrian Statue is slightly raised, with well-proportioned facial features and clear definition. The short, curly hair is arranged regularly, with orderly undulations; the beard and sideburns are densely curled, seamlessly blending with the facial contours. The facial expression of the Bust of Emperor Hadrian is restrained, with a prominent nose and brow ridge, resulting in a stable and restrained overall form. The surface tone is predominantly warm gold. Suitable for display in a study, as historical decoration, or in a showcase, it serves as a decorative representation of an ancient Roman emperor.
