1. Introduction of Large Stainless Steel Tube Sculpture
The first sculpture, called “Sinan Fish,” is located in Nanhuizui Seaview Park in Lingang, Shanghai. It utilizes a double-layered stainless steel tube lattice structure. The front elevation resembles a silver mountain, its lines flowing and powerful. From the side, it resembles a giant whale with its head held high, symbolizing the city’s openness to the ocean. The name of the Large Stainless Steel Tube Sculpture is inspired by the ancient Chinese compass instrument “Sinan,” symbolizing exploration and navigation. Drawing on the true story of the rescue of a stranded baby whale in 2003, it incorporates themes of gratitude and harmonious coexistence.
The second sculpture, also constructed from stainless steel tubes, takes the form of an open arch. The main structure is composed of a dense grid of triangles, with two sides extending upward and converging at the top, creating a stable and transparent sense of space. The metal surface gleams coolly in the sunlight, and the subtle play of light and shadow cast through the grid creates a multi-layered experience for both walking and viewing the plaza.
