1. Introduction of Wings of Mexico Sculpture
Jorge Marín is one of the most representative contemporary Mexican sculptors. Born in 1963, he mainly uses bronze as his medium and his works are all over the world. Since the 1990s, Marín has gradually established his own unique artistic language, and is good at expressing themes such as freedom, balance, and spiritual sublimation through symbolic body postures and compositions. His representative work “Wings of Mexico Sculpture” has been exhibited permanently or on tour in more than 20 cities around the world, becoming one of the symbols of contemporary Latin American public art.
This sculpture “Wings of Mexico” presents a pair of unfolded golden wings, suspended in a simple metal frame. The audience can stand in the center of the Wings of Mexico Sculpture, as if they have gained the ability to fly and become part of the work. The wings are delicately shaped and the feathers are clearly visible. Behind the frame is an empty scene, making the wings seem to float in the air.
