1. Introduction of Venus Au Bain Statue
Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain (1710–1795) was an 18th-century French sculptor active in the artistic transition from Rococo to Neoclassicism. Born in Paris, he studied at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture and his works primarily featured mythological figures, female nudes, and classical themes. This sculpture, Venus au Bain Statue, depicts a seated Venus.
The figure in the Aphrodite Nude Statue sits sideways on a support formed of rock and fabric, her head lowered, her gaze fixed on her legs, her posture serene and restrained. One leg extends forward, while the other is bent and drawn back. Her hair is tied back, the curls clearly defined, and the lines of her shoulders, back, arms, waist, abdomen, and legs are fluid and natural. The surface of this Venus Au Bain Statuehas a warm bronze hue, and the skin of the figure is relatively smooth.
