1. Introduction of Tung Tung Statue
This sculpture is based on the “Tung Tung” wooden figure. Originating from the Southeast Asian Sahur culture’s tradition of waking by striking, this figure has evolved through online dissemination into a humorous and absurd symbol. The design abstracts the simple striking tool into a human-like character, using exaggerated proportions and expressions to create a playful and easily recognizable form. The Tung Tung Statue has a slender cylindrical structure, mimicking a wooden stick-like body with simple yet prominent proportions.
The figure’s front features large eyes and a smiling expression, creating a friendly yet subtly contrasting visual effect. Its limbs are long and slender, with natural movements, and one hand holds the wooden stick, echoing the cultural concept of “waking by striking.” The base of the Tung Tung Statue is stable, facilitating display.
