1. Introduction of Medusa Wall Fountain
Medusa, one of the famous Gorgons in ancient Greek mythology, is typically depicted as having a female face with hair transformed into coiled serpents, whose gaze could instantly petrify. Her image is not merely a symbol of fear; in classical culture, she also held a talismanic significance. In ancient Greece and Rome, people often sculpted Medusa’s head on building facades, shields, fountains, or lintels to ward off evil and protect spaces. This Medusa Wall Fountain employs a classic wall-like composition, with a square upper wall connecting to a polygonal basin at the bottom, creating a stable and dignified overall proportion.
At the very center is a Medusa Relief‘s face, with symmetrical features and a restrained expression, her serpentine hair encircling her face in soft, undulating lines. The column-like decorations on either side of the wall and the moldings of the base reinforce the classical architectural language, giving the fountain a distinct Roman-Greek style.
