1. Introduction of Matteo Pugliese Statue
Matteo Pugliese is an Italian contemporary sculptor, born in Milan in 1969. His work has long revolved around the relationship between the human body, space, and boundaries. One of his most recognizable works is the Extra Moenia series, in which the head, torso, arms, or hands of the figures are often placed separately on a wall, making the body appear to emerge from within the wall. This Matteo Pugliese Statue is an example created by Arturban Sculpture, referencing Matteo Pugliese’s 2010 bronze work, La Promessa.
The figure in this Bronze Matteo Pugliese Sculpture is predominantly upper-body, with the head noticeably tilted back, the neck extended upwards, the chest thrust forward, and the shoulders and abdominal muscles exhibiting clear undulations. The torso, forearms, and hands are designed separately, with the outstretched palms fixed to either side of the body, making the missing arms appear visually hidden within the wall. The Matteo Pugliese Statue retains irregular sculpting marks and rough textures, creating a dynamic effect of a male body breaking outwards when mounted on the wall.
