1. Introduction of Marble Fireplace Mantel Surround
This mantel is a classic piece with a strong European style. The Marble Fireplace Mantel Surround was designed around 1780 and combines the solemn style of the George III period in England with Greek Revival elements.
The entire fireplace adopts a symmetrical layout and is magnificent. The cornice is a multi-layered stepped structure, decorated with classic egg-and-dart and dentil molding, which is delicate and three-dimensional. Two upright columns are supported by heavy plinth blocks, and the capitals are decorated with Ionic scrolls and acanthus leaf corner blockings. The most iconic central relief depicts Diana the Huntress, the goddess of hunting in Roman mythology, who is leisurely reclining with hounds beside her. The whole picture is full of pastoral poetry and divine power.
