1. Introduction of Fame Riding Pegasus Statue
This sculpture, by French Baroque sculptor Antoine Coysevox, is based on the Greek mythological horse Pegasus and an anthropomorphic female figure representing “Fame” (renown and glory). The woman rides atop Pegasus, wearing a laurel wreath, one hand raised as if to play a horn, her body naturally turning with the horse’s movement. Pegasus in the Fame Riding Pegasus Statue stands with its head held high, its forelegs raised high, and its wings spread out to the sides. The figure’s light, flowing dress forms continuous folds around her body.
Below the sculpture are carved war trophies consisting of shields, armor, lion skins, and weapons, symbolizing military victory and glory. The Fame Riding Pegasus Statue is sculpted from marble, with meticulous detail in the figure’s face, wings, horse’s mane, and clothing folds.
