1.Introduction of dying lion statue
This dying lion statue is made by Thorvaldsen. Its prototype is carved on the cliff to commemorate the Swiss guard who died in the French Revolution to defend the Tuileries, the residence of the Paris royal family. He wanted to put a dead lion on a pile of weapons, accompanied by the French royal insignia and the Swiss flag, to symbolize the loyalty and courage of 600 dead colleagues. However, Thorvaldsen refused to create the dead lion, but designed a dying lion to rest on the shield with the French royal symbol of lily. Thorvaldsen made this work in bronze.
