1. Introduction of Dante Alighieri Sculpture

Dante Alighieri (1265–1321) was a renowned Italian medieval poet and philosopher, and a key figure in the development of Italian literature. His masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, is divided into Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, exploring sin, redemption, and human destiny through the poet’s journey through the three worlds. This Dante sculpture was created in 1879 by the French sculptor Jean-Paul Aubé (1837–1916). The Dante Alighieri Sculpture is based on Cantata 32 of Inferno, depicting Dante’s foot touching the head of the traitor Boca dell’Abadi as he passes through the frozen lake of Hell.

This Dante Alighieri Sculpture is carved from light beige marble, depicting Dante in a full-body standing figure. The figure wears a laurel wreath, has a slender face, a prominent nose, and a noticeably lowered head, his gaze fixed on his feet. Dressed in a wide medieval robe, the collar crossed at the chest, hands clasped in front of the chest and abdomen, lightly grasping the lapel, the cuffs and hem forming natural folds. The figure leans slightly forward, one foot firmly planted, the other extended towards the head beside the pedestal. The head beside the feet faces upward, brows furrowed, mouth slightly open, contrasting with Dante’s contemplative and solemn expression. Arturban Statue can customize various memorial sculptures.
