Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill sitting on the bench of Mayfair in New Bond Street, as if they were having a lively conversation.
This bronze statue is known as the ‘ally’ and is a gift from the Bond Street Association to the city of Westminster to commemorate the 50th
anniversary of peace.
This Sitting Man Sculpture was created by dual national sculptor Lawrence Horovsena. It unveiled by Princess Margaret on May 2, 1995 and
became a landmark in central London. This sculpture, in the form of art, shows the close cooperation and friendship between Churchill and
Roosevelt, the two great leaders, during the World War II.
The Mayfair area on New Bond Street, where this sculpture is located, is a place with a long history and significant political and cultural
