1. Introduction of Buddha Face Sculpture

Ma Zelin (Ma Tse Lin) is a contemporary Chinese artist residing in France, and “Buddha” is one of the most important themes in his long-term work. Unlike traditional Buddhist sculptures, he emphasizes the formal reorganization in contemporary art, reinterpreting the Buddha’s face through repetition, fusion, and multi-directional arrangement. Among his works, the multi-faceted Buddha is a particularly recognizable form. This bronze Buddha Face Sculpture is based on Ma Zelin’s “Five-Faced Buddha,” merging five Buddha faces into a single, complete head.

Each face features lowered eyes, gentle eyebrows, a long nose, and slightly upturned corners of the mouth, creating a serene expression. A circular urna (white hair ornament) adorns the center of the forehead, and a prominent ushnisha (cranial protuberance) is retained on top. The five faces are not simply pieced together, but rather naturally connected through the curves of the forehead, cheeks, and head, creating different visual combinations when viewed from the front, side, and oblique rear. The Buddha Face Sculpture is cast in bronze with a warm brown bronze finish. It is connected to a square base by a slender metal support rod, which makes the Buddha head appear to be suspended in the air and is more suitable for 360-degree panoramic display. Arturban Statue can customize various buddha statues. Welcome to contact us for more details.
