1. Introduction of Baroque Female Bust
This Female Marble Bust, created around 1690 by the Italian Baroque sculptor Lorenzo Vaccaro, is titled The Four Continents: Asia, part of a series of allegorical sculptures depicting the four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The figure, a woman symbolizing Asia, has her head slightly turned to one side, her facial features soft and dignified, and her eyes and slightly parted lips conveying a natural expression. The head of the Baroque Female Bust is adorned with intricate floral and plant motifs, and the hair, styled in an updo, intertwines with the decorations, exhibiting distinct Baroque decorative characteristics.
The figure wears layered robes, with noticeable diagonal folds in the fabric at the chest, and decorative bands and floral details on the shoulders. The entire piece is sculpted from marble.
