1. Introduction of Abstract Bodhidharma Sculpture
This bronze Bodhidharma sculpture draws inspiration from the figure of Bodhidharma in meditation, combining traditional religious figures with modern minimalist design. The figure sits cross-legged in meditation, his body completely covered by a wide monk’s robe. The shoulders, arms, and knees are sculpted with continuous, rounded curves, and the folds of the robe cascade naturally from the chest to the legs, lending the posture a sense of composure and tranquility. The Abstract Bodhidharma Sculpture omits eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, and beard, leaving the face entirely blank, retaining only the outline of a hood-like head.
The entire sculpture is made of bronze with a deep green patina finish. The figure’s hands are tucked into the robe, the posture restrained, devoid of complex gestures or ritual implements; a circular bowl-shaped object is placed on one side, echoing the monastic lifestyle.
