1. Introduction of Venus Italica Sculpture
Antonio Canova (1757–1822) was one of the most influential Italian sculptors of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, often hailed as the “father of Neoclassical sculpture.” Born in Bosanio, Italy, he studied sculpture from a young age and later traveled to Rome to study ancient Greek and Roman art, gradually developing an artistic style that pursued ideal human proportions, elegant postures, and pure forms. This Venus Italica Sculpture recreates Canova’s Venus Italica, showcasing the classic pose of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty.
The figure in this Roman Statue Venus leans slightly forward, arms crossed over the chest, hands gently grasping the fabric covering the body, presenting a subtle and elegant posture of concealment. The head is slightly turned to one side, with a topknot and delicate curls in the hair.
