1. Introduction of Woman on Camel Back Statue
Eugeny Alexandrovich Lanceray (1848–1886) was a prominent 19th-century Russian bronze sculptor, born into an artistic family of French descent. He received excellent artistic training from a young age, undergoing systematic training in St. Petersburg and studying sculpture at the Imperial Academy of Arts. After graduating, he traveled extensively with the military and on expeditions to the Caucasus and Central Asia, drawing significant inspiration from his work. This Woman on Camel Back Statue, created in 1883, depicts a woman traveling in the desert on the back of a camel.
The camel is positioned in the center of the composition, its neck outstretched, limbs long, in a slow, walking posture; its back is covered with a thick, intricately patterned saddle blanket. The woman, draped in a long veil, her dress flowing naturally, sits serenely atop the camel. A man in a long robe on the right leads the camel, creating a relationship of escort and movement between the two. The base of the Woman on Camel Back Statue is carved with rough sand-like textures, giving the entire bronze sculpture a vivid desert journey atmosphere.
