1. Introduction of Orientalist Female Bust
Henri-Honoré Plé (1853–1922) was a French sculptor and painter active in the Parisian art scene from the late 19th to the early 20th century. He received academic training in sculpture, studying under artists such as Mathurin Moreau. He began participating in the Paris Salon in 1877 and later won a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair. This Orientalist Female Bust is titled Femme de Mequinez, with Mequinez being an older French transliteration of the Moroccan city of Meknès.
The work depicts a bust of a North African woman wearing a headscarf, gazing serenely. The large headscarf covers her head, adorned with earrings, and her forehead, chest, and clothing are covered with gold beads and chains. The bronze surface has a dark patina, with gilded details highlighting the decorative layers. A red marble base adds to the overall sense of stability. | Step 6: Patina and wax surface | We will paint the color as the image the customer sent, then make wax surface. When finished statue, also I will take photos for your reference. After you are satisfied with all, I will arrange packing and shipment. |
