1. Introduction of Aphrodite and Pan Statue
This sculpture, themed “Aphrodite, Pan, and Eros,” originates from a highly dramatic mythological group of late ancient Greece. The famous original is housed in the National Archaeological Museum, Athens. The Aphrodite and Pan Statue depicts the god Pan attempting to approach Aphrodite, the goddess of love, while Eros (Cupid) intervenes, creating a classic scene with both narrative and interactive elements.
The sculpture comprises three figures: Aphrodite is in the center, her body slightly turned to the side, one leg bearing her weight while the other is relaxed. She raises one hand, holding her shoe, while the other is lowered, seemingly blocking Pan’s approach. Pan is positioned to one side, leaning forward, with half-human, half-animal features (his lower body is in an animalistic form), his hands reaching out towards Aphrodite, creating a striking dynamic contrast. Above, Eros spreads his wings, restraining Pan’s movement from behind, adding depth and tension to the entire composition.
