1. Introduction of Aphrodite Knidos Sculpture
This sculpture is inspired by Aphrodite of Knidos, one of the most iconic female nudes in ancient Greece, and is a classic work representing the first complete female nude depiction of a deity in Western art history. Created by Praxiteles, the original Aphrodite Knidos Sculpture broke away from the earlier solemn distance of divine figures, portraying Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, in a more natural and approachable way.
The Aphrodite Garden Statue presents a typical “moment before bathing” pose: the figure stands upright on a circular base, her center of gravity slightly shifted, one leg bearing weight while the other relaxes naturally, making the overall posture appear stable yet not stiff. The right hand hangs naturally in front of the body, with a slight covering motion; the left hand grasps a piece of cloth, enhancing the sense of life in the image. The head is slightly turned to one side, the gaze directed to one side, the expression calm and natural, without any deliberate emotion. The hair is braided and styled, with clear details but not overly complex.
The overall form features soft lines, with a natural transition between the abdomen, hips, and legs.
