The Qilin is one of the auspicious beasts in ancient Chinese mythology, regarded as a “benevolent beast” symbolizing good fortune, peace, and high virtue. Its image is not a single animal, but rather a combination of features from deer, oxen, and horses, often described in traditional texts as having “the body of a deer, the tail of an ox, the hooves of a horse, and covered in scales.” In ancient times, the Qilin was believed to appear only during times of peace and prosperity or the descent of a sage, thus carrying strong auspicious connotations. This Chinese Qilin Statue is crafted using an antique bronze technique, giving it a substantial and weighty feel.
The Qilin Sculpture is in a typical crouching, protective posture, with strong, powerful limbs and sharp claws on its feet. The head is meticulously sculpted, with upturned horns, a raised forehead, slightly protruding, expressive eyes, and a slightly open mouth adorned with curled whiskers, enhancing its majestic presence. The neck and torso are covered with layered scale patterns, while the back is decorated with spines, creating rhythmic, undulating lines. The overall design of the Chinese Qilin Statue is compact and has a low center of gravity, giving it a stable and powerful appearance. When placed in pairs, it further enhances the protection of the entrance and the symmetry of the space. Arturban Statue can customize various animal sculptures.
