1. Introduction of Adiyogi Shiva Sculpture
This sculpture, carved from a single piece of white marble, depicts Shiva in meditation as an Adiyogi (the first yoga teacher). Shiva is one of the most important deities in Hinduism, ranking alongside Brahma and Vishnu in the Triad. The title Adiyogi emphasizes Shiva’s image as the earliest practitioner and teacher of yoga. The figure in the Adiyogi Shiva Sculpture is seated in the lotus position, with a stable body axis, relaxed shoulders and back, and a composed and restrained posture. The hands are naturally folded in front of the abdomen, forming the meditation mudra, indicating Shiva’s state of meditative absorption. The facial features are clearly defined, the eyes are slightly closed, and the expression is peaceful and restrained.
