1. Introduction of Bacchus God Statue
Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, is also the deity of grapes, fertility, revelry, and drama. He belongs to the same pantheon as Dionysus in Greek mythology, differing only in name and cultural background. As a symbol of nature and vitality, Bacchus represents the cycle of plant growth, the ripening of grapes, and the spiritual liberation brought about by wine fermentation. This Bacchus God Statue is presented in white marble, with slender and elegant proportions, a typical classical image of the god of wine.
The sculpture’s form is based on Michelangelo Bacchus Statue (1496–1497), perfectly reproducing the relaxed, slightly tipsy, and swaying posture of the original. The figure is depicted as a full-body nude, with naturally sculpted skin. The head is adorned with thick, curly hair and a crown of interwoven grape leaves and fruit. The right hand is raised aloft a wine cup, in a gesture of toasting or offering a sacrifice. A small Satyr leans against the Bacchus God Statue, positioned on Bacchus’s left side, half-human and half-goat, holding a huge bunch of grapes, seemingly also immersed in the atmosphere of harvest and wine aroma.
