Nellie Bly, whose real name is Elizabeth Jane Cochran, was one of the most influential investigative journalists in the United States in the late 19th century. She was famous for her bold exposure of the dark side of society, especially in 1887 when she pretended to be a mental patient and sneaked into the Blackwell Island Mental Hospital in New York and wrote “Ten Diaries of a Lunatic Asylum”, which revealed the inhuman treatment suffered by patients. This article not only shocked the society, but also prompted New York City to reform the mental hospital system. Nellie Bly was not only a pioneer in women’s journalism, but also a reformer who spoke for the disadvantaged. The Female Statue Face in the picture is one of the five female faces created by Amanda Matthews for the “The Girl Puzzle” project.
This Female Statue Face is cast in bronze and adopts a split composition: the face is vertically split into two parts. From the side, it is an abstract fracture surface, but from the front, the two pieces of bronze are miraculously spliced into a complete female face. This visual illusion is not only full of artistic tension, but also symbolizes the struggle and reconstruction of women between incompleteness and completeness. Her deep features and resolute expression reveal a strength to rise from trauma. Arturban Statue can customize various Woman Face Statues. Welcome to contact us for more details.
